WE ARE HOME!!!

Well,  we made it. Pulled in to Cottonwoods RV Park at 9:00 am under a partly cloudy sky. The sun was out all the time I was setting up. It is now cloudy and a pretty good chance of showers this afternoon. It is 12:30 pm and we are all set up and most everything is in it's place. I have a few things to put away or rearrange outside. Sharon has even scrubbed the kitchen floor. She won't let me get up until it is dry.

Looks like the wi-fi is going to be pretty good. That is a MUST! I haven't checked the TV yet but I'm sure it will be fine. The park is quiet. Most people are out doing something or gone to work. WORK, oh yeah, we are "workampers" and will be back at the work part of this life tomorrow.

Thanks to all of you who helped us to get this thing done. Some days I didn't know if we would make it by 04/01 or not. We are going over at 3:00 to do the closing. Need to eat a bite and will talk to all of you guys soon.

FULLTIMERS 04/01/2011

It is NOT and APRIL FOOL'S joke!! Our buyer was by today and has to get out of his current home asap. We agreed to try to be out of here and into the Hitchhiker so we can close on the house and he can move in and take over the rent, utilities, etc on April 1st. We are busy now making all the necessary phone calls, cancellations, & notifications.

Although it is sooner than we anticipated, we believe we can make the adjustment with a little effort. We have been doing things every week and within the next two weeks we will be getting settled into the fulltime RV lifestyle. We had always planned to list our home the first of March hoping it would sell quickly and it did. Our main concern was to get through the winter before we moved into the RV. That worked out too.

Guess we will just "workcamp" in Missouri for the next six months!!

EVERYTHING CHANGES!!

By Staff Report | March 9, 2011 - 2:04 pm - Posted in Uncategorized
After 15 years, Joe and Vicki Kieva’s popular column “RV Insight” will no longer appear inHighways, the monthly magazine of the Good Sam Club. The final column will appear in May. “We got our pink slip,” said Joe Kieva. Highways editor John Sullaway would not comment, but said an announcement in a future issue of the magazine would explain.
The Kievas began writing the column in February, 1996. “Vicki and I were teaching classes about RVing at 11 Southern California community colleges back then,” said Joe. “Sue Bray of the Good Sam Club heard us speak and asked us if we wanted to write for the magazine. After three requests, we said yes.”
The Kievas spent the next 15 years writing their column and speaking at RV rallies, where they were often the headliners. When the RV economy hit hard times a few years ago, invitations to speak became few and far between.
In each RV Insight column, Joe and Vicki would separately answer a question from an RVer in a “he says, she says” style, most often about the RV lifestyle rather than technical issues.
Now, with no speaking engagements and plenty of time on their hands, the Kievas are preparing to hit the road for four months in their 36-foot Country Coach motorhome. “We’ll just bum around the country practicing what we preached through the years,” said Joe. “We’ll stop at places where we didn’t have time to stop before.”
The Kievas will continue to write a weekly column RV Notebook, which is part of the RVtravel.com blog network.

WINTER HOME 2011-2012

JOHNSON CREEK RV RESORT
INGRAM, TEXAS

We have been employed as part of the staff at Johnson Creek. We are to begin work there October 17, 2011. We feel like we are lucky to have found (or been led to) this park. Everything we have learned about the park has been very positive.

Melinda, the park manager, is enthusiastic about the park and the Texas Hill Country. The 50 acre park is set in a large pecan orchard. It is located on Johnson Creek in Kerr county, just 11 miles from Kerrville on Hwy 27, and about an hour northwest of San Antonio.

For those of you who are interested, the link below will take you to their website:
http://www.johnsoncreekrvresort.com/
and this link http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Texas/Ingram.html#CGID4730 will take you to RV Park Reviews so you can see what other RVer's have to say about the park.

With the house sold, we hope to close on it toward the last of May and we will move into our 34 ft. Hitchikker II fifth wheel RV. We are planning to be residents of Cottonwood RV Park here in Columbia, from June until October. Lon has changed his mind on the South Dakota residency. The plan now is to travel to Livingston, TX, soon after October 1st. Livingston is headquarters for the ESCAPEE'S RV Club for full-time RVers.

We now plan to become Texas residents and will convert our vehicle licenses, driver's licenses, insurance, bank, mailing address, etc. Escapees also has a mail forwarding service which will forward our mail as we direct to wherever we might travel.  If fuel prices don't get TOO high (whatever that is), we still plan to return to Missouri in April 2012 and visit ALL of you before heading "NORTH TO ALASKA" the last part of May. Any of you with RV's who want to tag along would be welcome.
