WINTER 2015-2016

I hate to speak too quickly but winter in south Texas has been a piece of cake so far. We have a cold front moving through this evening and tomorrow's high will drop to 70 degrees. That's a tough adjustment for Winter Texans from, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, and Canada.

Jim and Betsy were here and enjoyed spring like temperatures only to return to snow in Missouri.

We all had a good time.

We spent the next day at two of the big, valley flea markets. Can't say we found a lot of things we wanted and the merchandise may or may not have been bargains. We certainly did see some great produce in the markets. Sometimes our eyes seduce us into purchasing more than we can eat. It doesn't look like this but a few days so you must eat it right away or even the most beautiful turns soft and moldy.

Sunday was our trip to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico. No dentist this trip. Only for sightseeing and shopping. Everyon bought vanilla and a few souvenirs. We drove through the valley fields on the way home. Huge, flat fields of cabbage, onions, and sugar cane are all along our path.

We made it home for our 4:00 campfire and happy hour.

It was a fun weekend. We enjoyed having our good friends here and the three weeks Paul and Brenda have been here have flown by. We will really be disappointed to see them leave at the end of the month.

The days go by quickly, like this little guy.....

Fun At Valley Gateway

Brenda and Paul arrived at Valley Gateway on New Year's Eve just in time to get set up and go to the party.

Jim Bob Fellar cooked steaks for
                 all park residents.

With a little help and support.

          The sisters enjoy dessert

              Enjoying social time

                      Relaxing

Paul was a big winner in Crazy
                      Bunco  game

Then, most recently, was a trip to Hill Country including Bandera, Kerrville, Fredericksburg, and Johnson City. We took a tour of several RV parks, the LBJ ranch and visitor's center, and of course we had to stop at Luckenbach. Willie and Waylon were not there.....only some of "the boys."

           Debuting at Luckenbach

               A little maintenance

                   Entertainment

            Ending a busy day with
           social hour and campfire

We are pretty busy folks here as you can see. Not sure how we ever had time to work. It's fun to be together. Getting old is not all bad. Don't rush it but don't be concerned about it either. Think about how many are denied the privilege.
