SIGNS OF SPRING

Spring.....Celebration of Life

Already, we are seeing a few RV's heading north. Visiting in our park and others, people are talking about heading back north in a few weeks. Only three weeks until Daylight Savings Time begins. We've had some 90+ degree days in south Texas and temperatures in Missouri look great for the next couple weeks. We saw on Facebook the Blue Bonnets are beginning to bloom in Texas hill country. Yes, it is a few weeks early.
Actually, it is only four weeks until Spring begins.

All of a sudden we have realized we need to make our own plans for spring and moving north. We have medical appointments coming up in just a few weeks.

We have had a fun winter in most respects. The weather has been really great, just what we came for. We have had another opportunity to explore the area and do some things we didn't get to last year. We have had visits from several friends and Paul and Brenda got to spend three weeks here in January. We enjoyed having you guys a lot.

However, nothing is perfect and the season has had some downers. Many windy days, dry and dusty conditions, many folks with allergies, difficulty finding firewood, and most devastating was the loss of Sharon's father in January.

The news came while Brenda and Sharon were together here. Although,  not entirely unexpected we were all still taken aback. As I have talked about before, our lives can change in an instant. Often the change comes in the midst of joyful times.

Joe Dodge was respected and loved by his family. Moreover, he was well-liked and respected by friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. I knew him and was a part of his family for over fifty years before his passing. In the first few years I saw why he was so loved and admired by his children, wife, loved ones, and friends. Never have I known anyone more patient, understanding, agreeable, sharing, giving, kind, and loving. All these qualities in one man.

Thank you Joe for being the example you were to all who knew you. It will take time for all of us who were close to you to adjust. One day at a time we move on, being better persons having been changed by your presence in our lives.

Once again I am reminded, life is not always easy. We won't always get our way or have everything we want. I  have learned the "secret of life" is to be happy with what you have. That's the kind of man Joe was, happy with what he had. And, as he saw it, he had it all. It should be our goal to live our lives like Joe and to leave this world with the respect and love this man obtained.
