GUNFIGHT IN BANDERA, TEXAS

Today, the fourth Saturday in July is National Day of the American Cowboy. And it's being celebrated in Bandera, Texas, Cowboy Capital of the World. Even with 100 degree temperatures a fair crowd turned out for the activities. Craft booths, chicken roping, mechanical bull riding and mechanical calf roping were among activities around the Bandera County courthouse.

The gunfight is what people come to see. New landowners don't want cowboys running cattle across their land. An argument and gunfight ensued.

                  Hold your ground men.

Oh no, the first shot is fired and a man is down.

It wasn't pretty and at the end all the newcomers were down.

Things had been peaceful around town and the chuck wagon til the argument began.

Actually, several cowboys from Rocky Point Retreat, where we live, were hanging out in the vicinity just before things got wild.

If your near Bandera next year in July check out heritage days and National Day of the American Cowboy. Maybe it won't be 100 degrees and then again, this is south central Texas.

Wherever you are in your life and travels, enjoy the journey.

Everybody is where they are because they want to be there. 🤠
