We don't want to get ahead of ourselves but, we can hardly help it. We put our house up for sale three weeks ago this weekend and today had an offer which we have accepted. It has to be approved by the park owner so it isn't officially a "done deal". However, it should only be a formality. New owner will get possession June 01, and we will be full time RVer's.
We are still planning to retire September 30. Unless our plans change, we will stay at Cottonwoods RV Park here in Columbia until we go south, probably to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, this fall. Some time this summer we will travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to establish residency. We will use a mail forwarding service there, get RV and truck licensed, drivers licenses, insurance, bank, etc. We will have to let you know our S.D. mailing address later this summer.
It sounds like fuel is going sky high in the next few months so we will decide on the Alaska trip a year from now. Our plan has been to come back to MO. in early spring and leave in late May or early June 2012 to head for Montana, Calgary, Edmondton, Dawson Creek (mile "0" of Alaskan Highway), Whitehorse, Dawson City (Yukon), Chicken, (Alaska), and tour Alaska until we are tired of it, broke, or the weather starts to cool.
We are looking forward to being able to change our plans on a whim and do whatever we want and go where ever fate leads us. We do have several things in mind but if something else pops up, plans can easily be changed. Thanks for all your support and good wishes. Of course, we love you all and will always be returning to MO for visits. Hopefully, some of you will visit us in Yellowstone, Lake Powell, Yuma, Anchorage, or some other destination.
We will keep you posted and let you know if retirement and full timing is all it is cracked up to be. I guess we can always go back to working, accumulating "stuff", and put down roots again.
