Thinking of the Blog it occurred to me how life throws us “curves” much as the roads curve on our travels. We slow down, and as we round the curve we speed up again.
In the spring, our life travel, as well as our road travel encountered a big curve and we had to slow our activities. Sharon had major surgery because of a kidney stone lodged in the ureter just beneath her left kidney. There was a complicated surgery as a result of the stone being lodged. After nine days in the hospital and a slow recovery, our workamping job in Montana was cancelled.
Shortly thereafter, Sharon’s father fell and broke his left upper arm. He had surgery to put a rod in because it was such a bad break. Again, a lengthy recovery and a long curve. As a result we decided to stay in Missouri for the summer. We have gone from north to south several times. We stayed at Head’s cabin near Novelty, visited our sons near Columbia, St Charles, and Lee’s Summit, visited my brother in Lee’s Summit, stayed in RV Parks near Brenda and Paul at Marshfield, and participated in activities with them and their family. Sharon’s father, just this week, moved from the Monroe Manor at Paris, to the Veteran’s Home at Mexico. He seems to be adjusting well and we have been impressed with the facility and staff there.
We have had lots of fun with family and friends and since we have about rounded this curve, we are ready to pick up speed back on to the road with our travel routine. We have a few more days of appointments and visits before “hitch itch” overcomes us.
Our current plans are to depart from Brenda’s and Paul’s the morning of October 20th to head for Marble Falls, TX. We will spend five days there with friends from our Alaska trek in the summer of 2012. From there we plan to visit a week or so, with friends near Kerrville and Medina, before moving on to Valley Gateway RV Park near Edinburg, where we will be for the winter months.
Here’s to a great winter, , with few curves to slow anyone’s plans.
WHEREVER YOU ARE IN YOUR LIFE AND TRAVELS, SLOW DOWN FOR THE CURVES, BUT ENJOY THE JOURNEY!
